Department Summary & Job Purpose:

The Office of Admission engages in a sophisticated and robust recruitment program to bring in a class of 525 first-year students each cycle. The Office of Admission processes nearly 5000 first year, transfer and Frances Perkins Scholar applications each year.

The Admission Coordinator role as part of the team that is responsible for entering prospective student data, as well as academic documents and applications into the electronic application system (Slate). In addition, the team provides support for the work of the admission officers and serves in customer service capacity with multiple constituents within and beyond Mount Holyoke.

An opportunity to work remotely for one to two days per week is possible after the first six months of employment.


Core Job Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • 40% Enter and verify accuracy of prospective student records and academic documents in CRM (Slate) 
  • 10% Schedule admission officers' recruitment activities at high schools and college fairs 
  • 25% Respond to email and phone inquiries from prospective students, school counselors, parents and other external audiences
  • 25% Participate in various committees responsible for: organization of prospective student open houses; employment of current students who serve as admission ambassadors; activities of alum volunteers and other projects as assigned. 
  • 5% Facilitate event day logistics for prospective student campus visit programs.


• The successful candidate will be highly organized, efficient, reliable, resourceful and adaptable in an environment with multiple priorities and systems.
• The ability to work as part of a team and to contribute to the positive dynamics of the office environment is essential.
• Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, expert proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, and mail merges required.
• Ability to act as a team player, use a sense of humor and remain flexible.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to utilize documentation in conjunction with training to master processes; exercise good judgment; and utilize problem-solving skills.
• A sense of humor, cooperative spirit and flexibility are characteristics of the successful candidate.
• Ability to grasp big-picture understanding of the demands and challenges of the Office of Admission and be able to adjust their work to accommodate the varied circumstances of Mount Holyoke’s diverse applicant pool appropriately.

Preferred Qualifications:

• An Associate’s degree (or higher) and at least three years of progressively responsible experience in administrative work is preferred.
• Experience working with CRMs, preferably Slate


• A current, valid US driver’s license and passport (or passport eligibility).

Compliance Requirements: 

Physical Demands: 

• Ability to lift and move travel materials weighing up to 30 pounds
• Ability to operate office equipment and computers (often spending full days using a computer) to perform essential duties

Working Conditions: 

• Evening work may be required a few times each year
• Weekend work will be required a handful of times during the year, always with significant advanced notice provided
