Department Summary & Job Purpose:

The Student-Athlete Development and Promotions Coordinator is responsible for assisting with programming for the Peak Performance and Leadership Academy that supports student-athlete development in the areas of personal health and wellness, athletic performance, leadership development, career development, and community engagement. The successful candidate will work closely with student-athletes and athletics administration to brand and promote student-athlete development opportunities and promote student-athlete success. The successful candidate will support the entire athletics department, working closely with all department members to learn about student-athlete needs and communicate both opportunities and successes.

 

Core Job Duties and Responsibilities: 

 The duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following functions:

Student-Athlete Development (45%) Uphold the commitment to student-athlete engagement within the department structure and foster a sense of community within and across all athletics teams. Implement initiatives that promote engagement and community building across all athletics teams. Build relationships with coaches and student-athletes to understand the needs and challenges that present opportunities for education and development outside of practice and competition. Support the planning of annual programming for all student-athletes each year as a part of the Peak Performance and Leadership Academy. Support the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and other student-athlete groups as needed including advising them on special events and programming (e.g. NCAA Division III week, Diversity & Inclusion Week, etc.). Provide assistance to the Athlete Empowerment Coalition by supporting group initiatives. Evaluate all student-athlete development programming and make recommendations for improvement.

Promotions (60%) Create relationships with coaches and student-athletes to learn of and promote successes. Write, edit, and submit press releases that highlight student-athlete programming and successes. Promote student-athlete opportunities through the Peak Performance and Leadership Academy by creating and implementing an on-going marketing strategy including social media promotion, fliers, and invitations. Promote the Peak Performance and Leadership Academy through branding and sharing its vision and mission with the athletics community. Create Peak Performance and Leadership Academy promotional materials to serve as tools for the recruitment of prospective student-athletes. Promote Peak Performance & Leadership Academy student outcomes. Share student-athlete opportunities and successes with appropriate campus partners to be promoted more broadly. Generate and share unique stories of student-athletes and their engagements, triumphs, and successes.

Other Duties (5%) Participate on Department and College committees as assigned.

Essential Qualifications: The position requires a Bachelor's degree; a valid driver's license; previous experience working with collegiate student-athletes or as a member of a collegiate athletics team; excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills with the ability to efficiently and effectively carry tasks out to completion; and the ability to function effectively at a competitive liberal arts NCAA Division III college with highly selective academic standards. This position also requires creative thinking; special event and/or marketing experience; and experience or strong interest in diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives as well as wellness and leadership initiatives.

Preferred Qualifications: Master's Degree. Experience writing, developing marketing plans, branding, social media, and design.

Working Conditions: Primarily office; some athletic field, outside work required.
