Salary: $62,000-$65,000

Department Summary & Job Purpose:

The Assistant Director of Digital Communications will help lead social media and digital communications strategy as part of a strategic, results-oriented team. The position provides multi-platform content development and direction to lead Mount Holyoke’s social platforms and website content, guiding a high-level, on-brand digital communications strategy to increase brand visibility among key audiences. This position is hybrid with a minimum of 2 days on-campus each week; however, due to the nature of the work, local proximity to the College is required with the expectation that additional time in-person may be needed periodically.

 

Core Job Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Manage the voice for the College’s social channels and cultivate the College's reputation among internal and external audiences.
  • Review all direct engagement with our social media accounts, including mentions, media tags, comments, and private messages, and moderate, reply, or escalate as appropriate.
  • Identify community engagement opportunities to cover on social media and develop content campaign strategies to implement on main channels.
  • Leads in developing and implementing comprehensive College-level social first strategy.
  • Create written and visual content for the University's social media channels and website. Create written and visual content for the University's social media channels and website.
  • Develop social media and digital communications campaigns that feature engaging content for diverse audiences, including prospective and current students, alums, donors, faculty, staff, media, and the surrounding community.
  • Collaborate with Communications team members to develop content packages and rollout strategies optimized for social media and the website.
  • Help convene social media contacts across campus to collaborate and provide expert guidance and leadership.
  • Supervise a Social Media Coordinator and a group of student workers.
  • Work closely with university leadership, faculty, staff, and students to curate compelling and brand-driven content to share on social media and in digital communications.
  • Track and analyze post and campaign efficacy to ensure that goals are met and that social media activities are linked to desired outcomes.
  • Coordinate with the News & Media team to monitor and moderate (as needed) public mentions of the College across social media.
  • Evaluate emerging social media channels and envision ways Mount Holyoke College can effectively utilize them.
  • Assist in developing and managing social media guidelines and compliance across campus.
  • Assist with other communications efforts as needed. 

Qualifications: 

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in marketing, communication, digital media, or a related field, plus a minimum of 4 years of experience with demonstrated excellence in social media, communications, public relations, and/or marketing.
• Strong project management skills.
• Ability to translate complex ideas into digestible social media content.
• A creative, dynamic thinker with strong, professional writing and editing skills.
• An aptitude for visual communication.
• Ability to work independently and proactively with other team members, identifying resources and approaches to achieving job goals and outcomes.
• Ability to interact effectively with a broad range of campus partners, including leadership, faculty, and staff.

Physical Demands: 

• Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Working Conditions: 

• The employee is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions (such as in typical office or administrative work).
• Protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes. Activities occur inside and outside environments.
