Department Summary & Job Purpose:
The Facilities Management department supports the administration, faculty, staff, and students in the quality planning and development of facilities projects that support our mission. Our talented team of approximately 140 Full-Time employees/ FTEs (Cleaning, Mechanical Trades, Central Heating Plant, Grounds, Carpentry, Stockroom, EH&S, Fleet Services, and Mail Services & Duplication) are responsible for more than 2,000,000 square feet (SF) of property in over 60+ major buildings and for maintaining more than 300 acres.
This position is responsible for the cleanliness of all the residential halls, offices within the residential halls, and cultural centers.
Core Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- General cleaning tasks in campus buildings
- Sweeping, vacuuming, and washing floors
- Emptying waste receptacles
- Cleaning and disinfecting bathroom toilets, showers, countertops, mirrors, sinks and high-touch surfaces
- Dusting and polishing furniture and fixtures
- Communicate building and safety concerns, report the need for repair or services
- Additional duties related to Commencement, Reunion, Events, and Summer Conferences as assigned

Qualifications:
•High school diploma or equivalent •Must be able to adhere to a detailed cleaning program •Must be willing to work some weekends and holidays •Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds •A willingness to perform other duties as assigned
Preferred Qualifications:
- Preference will be given to candidates with previous cleaning experience. Final decision made by hiring manager.

Physical Demands:
•Balancing, carrying, pulling/pushing, grasping, repetitive movement, standing, bending, reaching, sitting, twisting and lifting. • Ability to physically perform manual tasks, climb stairs, lift, climb ladders, and bend. •Ability to lift (30) pounds unassisted, stoop, or stand for prolonged periods.
Working Conditions:
•Employee handles a range of hazardous materials, including cleaning chemicals and supplies. •May have contact with chemicals and fumes, wet or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, and extreme weather related to heat or cold. •Noise level in some work environments can occasionally be loud.
