Department Summary & Job Purpose: Mount Holyoke College is seeking an experienced professional to manage the delivery of accommodations and services for faculty and staff with disabilities and to oversee the Division of Human Resources’ efforts to ensure compliance by faculty and staff with all federal and state laws and College policies that prohibit sexual harassment in the workplace and for oversight of the grievance process, investigations, and case management of complaints associated with compliance with such laws and policies. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated knowledge of relevant laws, disability services, and legal compliance at the college level, be knowledgeable about best practices in providing appropriate responses to allegations of non-compliance with such laws and policies and with providing accommodations, and have demonstrated leadership in Title IX and disability services work. The Assistant Vice President will advise senior College leadership on appropriate College policies and procedures to ensure compliance with all civil rights laws. In collaboration with other stakeholders, the Assistant Vice President of Compliance will oversee the development, revision, and implementation of policies and procedures related to civil rights laws, including:
The Assistant Vice President will provide consultation for supervisors and managers presented with allegations of violations by faculty and staff of federal and state laws and College policies that prohibit discrimination in the workplace and will respond to allegations of violations by faculty and staff of federal and state laws and College policies that prohibit discrimination in the workplace, conducting reviews and investigations in accordance with relevant laws and policies. As the Title IX Coordinator at Mount Holyoke College, the Assistant Vice President is primarily responsible for implementing and overseeing the compliance program and grievance procedures pertaining to the assessment and resolution of grievances and complaints of violation of Title IX involving faculty and staff. The Assistant Vice President will interpret, analyze, and advise on applying laws and regulations in an academic employment setting. The Assistant Vice President works collaboratively to create a culture of consent across campus and to raise awareness of educational resources around gender and sexuality in the context of sexual violence prevention and community wellness. The Assistant Vice President for Compliance will play a key role in the development and delivery of Disability Services to employees. The Assistant Vice President for Compliance will provide direct support to faculty and staff to determine eligibility for and the development of individualized accommodation plans and contribute to the institutional mission of access and success for employees with disabilities. The Assistant Vice President for Compliance is a resource to educate, train, and guide College employees in understanding disability access, rights, and responsibilities. The Assistant Vice President for Compliance will collaborate with faculty and staff around accommodation plans and consult with faculty and staff colleagues concerning best practices, reasonable accommodations, and support of faculty and staff registered with the HR Office. The Assistant Vice President will coordinate and work collaboratively with the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and with faculty, staff, and campus partners, including colleagues in the Divisions of Student Life and Academic Affairs, and will assist other offices and departments as needed. The Assistant Vice President will work closely with other Division of Human Resources members, especially the Assistant Vice President for Employee and Labor Relations and the Director of Staff Development. The Assistant Vice President of Compliance will guide, support, and indirectly supervise employees within other departments who hold positions related to compliance: Title VI of the Higher Education Act of 1965, Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972, the Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Americans with Disabilities Act Amendments Act (ADAAA), Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act. As such, this position will serve as a team lead for policy development, implementation, reporting, and other functions across all areas of the College. The Assistant Vice President will engage in data collection and reporting activities as part of Division—and College-wide initiatives, serve on campus-wide committees, and perform other duties as assigned. |
