The Admission Office is engaged in a sophisticated, creative and robust recruitment program. We boast a team of experienced staff who work collaboratively to achieve goals. The Office is looking for a talented, dynamic and versatile professional to join its ranks as an Assistant Director who will coordinate admission event planning and execution, and who will contribute to a variety of recruitment, selection and yield initiatives.

Core Job Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Coordination of recruitment and yield events. Lead divisional event team planning, execution and evaluation of virtual and in-person campus visit programs. Coordinate event logistics with staff from other college departments and with external vendors.
  • Oversee a domestic travel territory; cultivate and evaluate students from that geographic area with particular emphasis on a diverse applicant pool. 
  • Travel approximately 8 weeks yearly on behalf of the Admission Office. 
  • Represent the college nationally, and if required, internationally, at high schools and other recruitment venues. Staff college fairs, conduct interviews, deliver group information sessions, and represent the college at off-campus events.
  • Review and evaluate applications using MHC’s holistic review and rating system. Participate in the applicant decision committee. 
  • Represent the Admission Office on campus-wide committees. 
  • Assess effectiveness of annual travel by using data analytics platforms and information; recommend changes and suggest new approaches in annual report format.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications: 

- Bachelor's degree required. A minimum of 2-3 years experience in admission recruitment or event planning or related experience.
- Ability to work collegially and effectively with a diverse group of students, faculty, staff, and visitors on a daily basis.
- Superior oral, analytic and written communication skills; effective public speaking; an ability to engage with large audiences of prospective students, families, and college counselors.
- An understanding of the liberal arts and an ability to communicate their value clearly, cogently, and confidently.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to multi-task.
- Experience with project management.
- Passion for traveling independently and an interest in learning about high school students
- Sense of humor and ability to remain flexible and nimble in carrying out multiple projects and tasks.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Experience working in a selective college/university admission environment is preferred
- Experience with Technolutions Slate CRM highly preferred.
- Understanding of and enthusiasm for the mission of women’s colleges and gender affirming communities.
- Fluency in Spanish or a language other than English is preferred.

License/Certifications: A current, valid unrestricted US driver’s license and passport (or passport eligibility).

Physical Demands:

• Some lifting (travel materials) required, ranging from 0-50 pounds.
• Prolonged periods standing (college fairs) required, ranging from 1-4 hours at a time.
• Employee talks in front of large groups of people on a daily basis.
• Employee speaks with students and other faculty daily by telephone, e-mail, or in person on a daily basis.
• Employee operates office equipment and computers to perform essential duties and responsibilities

Working Conditions: 

• The employee is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions (such as in typical office or administrative work)
• Regular work week but will require additional evening and weekend work as necessary, especially during peak travel and application review seasons.
• Additional travel may be required to attend events, for professional development training, or professional association meetings.
