Salary: $62,000 to $64,000

Department Summary & Job Purpose:

As part of the Alum Communications Pod, the digital communications manager oversees alum-facing digital communications for the College Relations division and other key campus partners, including the Alumnae Association. Working closely with the associate director of alum and family communications and the digital specialist for alum communications, the digital communications manager oversees the alum email calendar, serves as the primary technological lead for alum-facing digital communication platforms, and is responsible for alum email reporting.

 

Core Job Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Work with the Alum Communications Pod to provide strategy and insight to campus partners to help maximize the effectiveness of digital communications (including email, web, and social media) to promote events, build alumni engagement, and advance giving opportunities. 
  • Serve as primary liaison with The Mount Holyoke Fund to support MHF marketing campaigns and coordinate annual giving direct mail programs, including messaging timing and segmentation strategy. 
  • Partner with the digital specialist for alum communications and other campus partners to ensure communication consistency across alum-facing platforms, including email, web, and social. 
  • Oversee the scheduling, testing, sending, and reporting for all alum emails. Manage the creation and maintenance of standard email templates for alum emails to ensure consistency in messaging and aesthetics. 
  • Manage the College's presence on digital platforms that cater to alum audiences, including Drupal, PG Calc (Gift Planning website), GiveCampus, ThankView, iModules, and Kudoboard.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for questions and troubleshooting for alum-facing digital platforms and provide training and resource materials for colleagues for backup support.
  • Ensure College Relations’ digital content is current and accurate, with an emphasis on development-supporting content. 
  • Manage analytics and metrics around alum and family communication. Collect, review, and share marketing data (campaign results, conversion rates, traffic, etc.) to help analyze the effectiveness of digital communications. 
  • Remain current on trends in communication strategies and development, including new technologies. 
  • Other duties as assigned. 

Qualifications: 

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Minimum of 3 years experience in marketing, communications, social media, or related field.
• Proficient in email client systems such as Mailchimp, Hubspot, and Anthology Encompass (formerly iModules).
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar design software.
• Experience using and interpreting Google Analytics or other website tracking systems.
• Solid written communication skills; strong verbal communication skills, editing, and proofreading proficiency are required.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Must be organized, possess the ability to multi-task, and meet project deadlines.
• Requires initiative, problem-solving skills, and high attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in fundraising, preferably in a higher education or non-profit setting, is preferred.

Physical Demands: 

  • Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.
  • Visual Acuity - Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • The employee is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures, transcribing, viewing a computer terminal, and extensive reading.

Working Conditions: 

  • The employee is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions (such as in typical office or administrative work).
